Job description

Some people are good with their hands. They spot the loose hinge before it becomes a problem, fix the leaky tap without being asked, and leave a place genuinely better than they found it. If that sounds like you, the maintenance agent role at Birkelt campsite in Luxembourg is worth your full attention. This is skilled, physical, outdoor work with a clear purpose, and you'll see the results of what you do every single day.

Birkelt sits in the Mullerthal region, a part of Luxembourg that tends to surprise people. Forested sandstone gorges, rocky walking trails, clean air, and a pace of life that bears no resemblance to a city summer. It's a genuinely lovely place to spend six months, and the work keeps you moving across the site rather than stuck in one spot. One day you're pruning trees and tending the grounds, the next you're troubleshooting a repair in a guest lodge or helping prep the site for the season ahead. Varied doesn't begin to cover it. 🔧

The contract runs from 1 April to 15 September 2026, covering everything from the energy of opening day right through to the quiet satisfaction of closing things down properly at the end of the season. Two years of experience in a similar role is required, so this is a job for someone who already knows what they're doing and is looking for somewhere good to do it.

What you bring

  • At least 2 years of experience in a maintenance, groundskeeping, facilities, or similar hands-on role
  • Practical skills across a range of tasks: grounds work, basic repairs, general upkeep of equipment and infrastructure
  • A good level of English, which is the working language on site
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative, you notice what needs doing and get on with it
  • Physical fitness for a role that keeps you on your feet and moving outdoors throughout the day
  • A problem-solving mindset: you don't need a manual for every situation, you think it through and find the fix
  • Availability for the full contract period from 1 April to 15 September 2026

What you do

  • Carry out regular and ad hoc maintenance across the campsite, including facilities, equipment, and guest accommodation
  • Manage all grounds and tree work, from routine upkeep to seasonal tasks like pruning and clearing
  • Troubleshoot and carry out repairs in guest lodges and site infrastructure as issues arise
  • Assist with winterisation procedures and the major works that happen during the site's closure period
  • Help prepare and reopen the campsite at the start of the season, getting everything ready before guests arrive
  • Keep an eye on the condition of site equipment and flag anything that needs attention before it becomes a bigger problem

What you get

  • A full-time seasonal contract from 1 April to 15 September 2026, covering the complete arc of the campsite season
  • Varied, hands-on outdoor work where you see the direct results of what you do, every day
  • A base in the Mullerthal region, one of Luxembourg's most scenic and least crowded areas, with serious walking country right on your doorstep
  • Easy reach of three countries: Germany, Belgium, and France are all within an hour or two, making weekends genuinely worth planning
  • A working environment where English is the day-to-day language on site
  • Real responsibility and the kind of job satisfaction that comes from fixing and maintaining things properly, not just ticking boxes
