About the project

Unlike typical 'voluntourism,' this program creates lasting impact by working directly with local schools to build permanent sports and health curricula. You'll join 250+ energetic students aged 7-18 at our partner school, helping address Tanzania's cultural misconceptions about health while fostering the country's passion for football. The program emerged from a pursuit to inspire ethical, long-term community development, ensuring your contributions continue long after you leave. Free time

Tanzania offers incredible free-time adventures! As one of the world's top safari destinations, you can join budget group safaris to Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Arusha National Park, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire. For the ultimate challenge, plan hikes up Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru with guidance from local experts. Day trip options include hiking to Mt. Meru waterfall, visiting authentic Masai villages, swimming in natural hot springs, exploring underground caves, and touring banana plantations. On quieter afternoons, cool off in hotel swimming pools, paddle around Lake Duluti in a canoe surrounded by wildlife, or explore Arusha's Museum of Nature and Wildlife. The Cultural Heritage Center offers diverse shops and galleries. All activities can be easily arranged at the White House hostel, where evening communal dinners become planning sessions for weekend adventures with fellow volunteers from around the world!

A typical day

Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM with departure from the volunteer house to the nearby school. Spend 2-3 engaging hours teaching basic health education to children, covering human anatomy, nutrition essentials, and the importance of exercise in well-equipped classrooms. At 12:00 PM, share lunch with the students before diving into afternoon sports activities. Start with the youngest children, providing football, basketball, or volleyball training with all equipment provided, or design your own creative games. As the afternoon progresses, older students join in following detailed programs. Many days extend into evening football culture and tournaments, where the school's football-fanatic atmosphere creates incredible energy. You might even help talented students work toward their dreams of joining national leagues! Work Monday to Friday with optional Saturday activities, collaborating with school staff to enhance and expand the sports program year-round.
