Job description

You must be friendly, approachable, enthusiastic, and mature with solid leadership skills. The ideal candidate for this role will bring considerable managerial experience within the active sports environment.

You will lead your active resort team to deliver Neilson's extensive resort activity programme to an exceptional standard and ensure all Neilson guests have an unforgettable holiday experience.

This will require the perfect combination of solid interpersonal skills and a friendly, approachable, outgoing personality. You will utilise your resort team and the facilities to create a fantastic holiday experience. This will be at the centre of everything you do.

You'll ensure your team is a visible presence around the resort. Efficient, reliable, assertive, and conscientious, the team will keep an open line of communication with our guests to maintain excellent rapport.

What you bring

  • Management, customer service and budgeting experience
  • Responsible for health & safety, including on-water rescue procedures
  • Strong knowledge of RYA, BWSW, the Neilson programme and resort equipment
  • Excellent communication skills; engaging, professional and safety-focused
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing weather and operational demands
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with flexible availability
  • Awareness of child protection and activity-related risk management
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Fluent in English with relevant instructor qualifications (RYA, BWSW, LTA/RPT, MIAS, Fitness – highly beneficial)

What you do

  • Create, implement and manage a comprehensive activity programme
  • Lead, motivate and challenge the team to consistently meet or exceed service and instruction standards
  • Recruit, train, develop and appraise team members, providing regular feedback and coaching
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous service improvement
  • Set, control and report on operational budgets and financial accounting
  • Manage staff rotas based on qualifications, ratios and operational needs
  • Handle disciplinary and grievance matters in line with company procedures
  • Ensure the highest standards of health, safety and risk management, including audits and action plans
  • Oversee maintenance, ordering, tracking and security of all operational equipment
  • Maintain the appearance and daily set-up/pack-down of all active sites
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships across all departments and head office
  • Ensure excellent guest experience, including proactive equipment support and airport transfers
  • Maintain and update centre operating procedures in line with RYA standards and local legislation
  • Coordinate accommodation, logistics, briefings and social events across departments
  • Support wider business needs, including inter-resort moves, seasonal set-up/pack-down and cross-department cover
